Europa launches Display Solutions
Europa Science is pleased to announce the launch of Display Solutions, Europe's premier bi-monthly magazine for electronic design engineers using and developing electronic information displays. The magazine will be published quarterly and is supported by the Society for Information Display (SID). The magazine was launched at the Displays Forum conference in The Netherlands and was well received by delegates.
"This latest launch is in keeping with our strategy to grow our technology information portfolio in Europe, and Display Solutions now forms our sixth title in science and technology," commented Europa's Managing Director Mark Wormald. "The launch complements our existing photonics titles and gets us closer to our goal of being the number one European magazine publisher in this area."

Imaging & Machine Vision Europe launches
Europa Science has launched a new title called Imaging & Machine Vision Europe. Published quarterly following demand from both users and suppliers, Imaging & Machine Vision Europe is Europe's only dedicated magazine for design and production engineers working in the scientific imaging and machine vision markets.
Alex Sullivan, Sales Director of Europa Science, remarked: "We have had unprecedented demand for more in-depth coverage of both the scientific imaging and burgeoning European machine vision markets from advertiser and readers of Electro Optics magazine.
"Imaging & Machine Vision Europe is now the premier publishing vehicle for this area. We are very excited about working with the European Machine Vision Association and other European imaging societies to help enhance this key technology sector."

Two new titles for Europa
Europa Science Ltd is pleased to announce that it has acquired two leading science titles in a deal that more than doubles the company's turnover.
Both titles were formerly owned by Cambridge Publishers Ltd, one of Europa's shareholders. Scientific Computing World, a bimonthly title originally launched in 1994 by the Institute of Physics Publishing, was acquired by Cambridge Publishers in 1999, and today is Europe's leading magazine for the scientific computing community. Research Information is the only dedicated publication serving the burgeoning market in online scientific, technical and medical information; a quarterly, it was launched in 2001 by Cambridge Publishers, and now enjoys wide support across Europe's blue-chip publishing industry.
In addition to these two titles, Europa Science has acquired Bioinformatics World, a quarterly supplement to Scientific Computing World.
Dr Tom Wilkie, Executive Chairman of Europa Science, commented: "These are stimulating times for us. Both the new titles are leaders in their field, and we have some very exciting plans for their development over the forthcoming months."

Strong showing for Electro Optics at Laser 2003
The international photonics industry is celebrating signs of recovery and renewed growth in the sector after a highly successful Laser 2003: World of Photonics event at Munich last week.
A strong international showing had 846 exhibitors - up 8% on the last event - with leading presences from the United States, Germany and the UK. Attendance was up on the 2001 event at 20,000 visitors.
Electro Optics magazine, which is owned by Europa Science and which was the official sponsoring publication for the UK Pavilion, enjoyed its most successful show in its 35-year publishing history, winning significant orders for advertising.
Mark Wormald, Europa Science's director of sales, commented: "It was a fantastic event for the magazine. We were told in no uncertain terms by the market that the magazine has never looked so strong, and has never been a better prospect for delivering results for advertisers.
"The market's confidence in Electro Optics has been underlined by the quality of the conversations we have enjoyed with both existing customers and new prospects. All are impressed with the magazine's new format and content, and we are very much looking forward to working with them."

Europa picked to provide leading show guide for Laser 2003
Europa Science is proud to announce that its magazine Electro Optics has been selected as the official sponsoring publication for the UK Pavilion at the forthcoming Laser 2003: World of Photonics exhibition in Munich at the end of June.
In addition, Europa Science has been selected to compile, design, print and circulate the Laser 2003 UK Guide, which is the officially-sponsored brochure showcasing British photonics companies exhibiting at the show.
The Munich event, which is held every other year, is the leading European exhibition for the photonics industry. This year's four-day show has attracted 846 stands, filling three halls at the Munich Messestadt; it is expected that some 19,000 visitors will attend this premier event.
Dr Tom Wilkie, Europa Science's chairman, commented: "This is a splendid achievement both for Electro Optics and for Europa Science, and recognises the huge amount of work that has been done to improve the magazine both editorially and commercially even in the short time in which we have owned it.
"Electro Optics is a worthy ambassador for the sector, and is carrying a very strong message to Europe's photonics community. All of us at Europa Science are proud that the Government's export bodies have recognised the achievements we have made."

Europa Science Ltd makes its first acquisition
Europa Science Ltd is delighted to announce that it has acquired Electro Optics magazine. The first issue published under Europa Science Ltd's ownership will be out on 21 March.
Electro Optics was the first magazine dedicated to serving the European photonics market and now, as it proudly enters its 35th year of service to the industry, we will continue that tradition of service while introducing a new design, enhanced editorial coverage, and other improvements.
Dr Tom Wilkie, Europa Science's Chairman, commented: "This is a crucial time for the photonics industry. The continuing frantic pace of technological development is being tempered by the slowdown in the world's economy. Never has the need for accurate, up-to-date information been greater. Under our stewardship, Electro Optics will make a significant contribution to the understanding of the technical and business issues facing the sector.
"While doing so, we shall not lose sight of the fact that the Europe-based readership of Electro Optics has for decades relied upon the publication to keep it appraised of new product developments. We are proud to continue this tradition and build upon it, and the revitalised publication will have extensive coverage of the products and launches that photonics professionals need to know about to do their jobs effectively."
